Home Grown’s Statement on the Child Care for Working Families Act

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA) reintroduced the Child Care for Working Families Act (CCWFA). Home Grown endorses this historic legislation that would make long overdue and much-needed investments in our nation’s child care system. We look forward to working with authors of legislation to ensure that the maximum number of home-based providers are able to engage in the system created by the bill and receive the subsidy and wage support they need.

Families and child care providers are being squeezed as pandemic-era supports expire and federal funding stalls. Across the country, home-based providers are struggling to stay open amid lower reimbursements and rising costs. Without stronger federal investment in the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG), tens of thousands of children could lose access to care.
