Tom Browning is the Program Manager, Community Implementation at Home Grown and is responsible for coordinating efforts with communities and partners engaged in Home Grown’s nutrition policy and food justice initiatives. Prior to this role, Tom worked at Illinois Action for Children in Chicago for over 17 years. He oversaw both the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the health and safety requirements for Family, Friend, and Neighbor providers as a part of the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG). This work included cultivating healthy eating habits for children from low-income homes and targeting outreach to Family, Friend and Neighbor providers using a strength-based approach to develop their early childhood skills and build their social capital. Tom lives in Chicago and speaks fluent Mandarin.
