Emily Franchett is the Scholar in Residence at Home Grown, where she partners with the team to co-develop a research agenda centered on understanding the experiences of grandparent caregivers of young children. Emily is a doctoral student in Applied Psychology at NYU Steinhardt, where her research focuses on designing and evaluating programs and policies that support the development and wellbeing of young children and their caregivers. As a researcher, she is especially interested in partnered approaches that elevate participant and community voices. She also supports Home Grown’s Emergency Fund efforts to reach home-based child care providers affected by disasters. Previously, Emily worked in community health and education as a Peace Corps Albania Volunteer and supported evaluations of early childhood and youth development programs in Rwanda, Pakistan, and Colombia.
